We had a wonderful stay at Moortop Cottages and would happily return. The cottage was incredibly warm and cosy, even in the middle of winter. The wall heaters in the bedrooms, the fireplace in the living area, and thoughtful touches like hot water bottles and extra blankets made it a wonderfully comfortable place to relax. One thing that really impressed us was the hot water system. We were told it runs on gas, but you would never know it. The hot water was instant, consistent, and plentiful. We’ve stayed in places before where gas showers alternate between freezing cold and scalding hot, but the showers here were excellent every time. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. Instead of the usual assortment of worn out cookware you often find in self catering accommodation, everything was high quality. The Victorinox knives were actually sharp, the pans were great to cook with, and it was clear that real thought had gone into providing a kitchen people would enjoy using. Everything was spotless when we arrived, not just inside the cottage but outside too. Even the covered patio and braai area were immaculately clean, making it a pleasure to spend time outdoors. We also appreciated the many thoughtful touches that made us feel welcome, including fresh flowers, delicious rusks on arrival, and a selection of board games for the family. One of the highlights of our stay was the peace and quiet. Although there were other guests staying on the property, the cottages are positioned so well that we felt completely private. It was wonderfully tranquil and exactly the relaxing weekend we were hoping for. The farm itself is beautiful, with a lovely walk around the dam that was peaceful and relaxing. The location is also ideal, just a few minutes from the Elgin Railway Market, where we enjoyed a fantastic family brunch while our child had a great time in the play area. Moortop Cottages strikes a wonderful balance between comfort, quality, and thoughtful hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the Elgin Valley.

What a lovely place! Set amongst the apple orchards, we stayed in Sundowner cottage. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, well appointed living area, and an under cover braai and eating area. We enjoyed a walk amongst the apple trees and made a braai in the evening. We were greeted by Rowena who was very helpful. She even supplied a little pot of home made strawberry jam. Absolutely delicious! Plenty of places to visit in the daytime. We especially enjoyed Oak Valley and Gabrielskloof wine estates. Thoroughly recommend spending a couple of days in this delightful establishment.

A Serene Hidden Gem We had the most delightful weekend at Moortop Cottages, staying in the charming Sundowner Cottage, an ideal retreat for our family. Thoughtfully equipped with everything one might need for a self-catering stay, the cottage was immaculately clean, cosy, and beautifully maintained. The outdoor braai area was a lovely addition, and the indoor fireplace provided the perfect touch of warmth for the winter evenings. The farm itself is the epitome of tranquillity. Morning and evening strolls through the orchards and alongside the dams were truly restorative — a balm for the soul. Rowena, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to engage with. From the outset, she was gracious, attentive, and incredibly helpful, both prior to our arrival and throughout our stay. Her hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome, and the experience truly felt like a home away from home. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the expansive outdoor space, as well as the thoughtful additions in the cottage, from board games and cards to bats and balls. In fact, our three-year-old daughter was heartbroken to leave, insisting she wanted to live there forever! Thank you, Rowena, for a truly memorable weekend escape. We will most certainly return.

What a stunning farm with beautiful comfy cottages. We had a girls' weekend in the Sundowner Cottage, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds were clean and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, the fireplace was set up on arrival so we could get warm straight away, and the rooms have wall heaters too which was a bonus. It was peaceful and quiet, very safe too, with beams around the cottage. We loved walking through the orchards and spotting birds and apples here and there. Rowena was absolutely amazing, she's attentive and friendly and made sure we were sorted. The location is great, super close to all sorts of places.

What a really good afternoon, popped in for a drink, decor is gorgeous loved the glass wall made a nice area to eat and talk in. Bar staff (Frank ) really nice and so helpful .drink price ..well this is brilliant some off the offers very good beat Wethers...😅, so we looked at the menu..a favourite of mine is small plates and they had loads so after settling for 3 and my daughter 3 different ones it was gorgeous.. Brittany was great bringing all the food 15 plates all out food hot ..nothing was too much trouble ..added bonus kids menu £5-50 main dessert and drink...if you just fancy coffee there is an offer with cake £3-99 ... and if your partial to processco £10 a bottle on a Friday night I'm definitely back here might off found a new local..🍽🥂😊

Wow what a beautiful spot in Elgin! So close to everything you need to see and perfect for a family to enjoy the area. Kids loved running around on the farm. The cottages were absolutely perfect. Everything you needed for your stay was there. Rechargeable lights provided and a check in with a happy smile. The cottage was clean and we immediately felt relaxed. Thank you for a beautiful stay. We've stayed at Moortop cottages twice and have had a thoroughly enjoyable stay on both occasions. We found it an ideal location to escape Cape Town for the weekend, enjoying slow mornings and the Elgin beauty, and fun evenings around the outside braai area. The hosts were exceptional!

Absolutely beautiful! We stayed in the panorama cottage and it was just out of this world beautiful. It was so clean and well equipped. You feel so safe on the farm and we definitely felt at home.We are already planning our next trip. The owner Rowena is just a sweet heart and so friendly.

Moortop was an absolutely amazing stay. The views and serenity of been amongst the orchards is so relaxing and a perfert place to unwind. The added little things just made our stay, such as nappy bins, firewood, milk, snacks, etc... The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and trump most 5 Star International Hotels! WE WILL BE BACK!!

We had an amazing stay at Moortop. So peaceful and ideallic. We booked two cottages next to each other for 2 families with children (Panorama and Granny Smith cottages). The cottages themselves were very well appointed and nicely furnished and had everything we needed. For loadshedding there was also a small portable gas stove, extra bottled water and extra lamps if needed. There were two bedrooms (one with double bed and another with two singles) and they also had outside beams hooked up to an alarm for extra peace of mind. And The extra touches like rusks, coffee, tea and sugar were a cherry on the top. We loved every minute of it. The cottages are situated literally on the edge of the apple orchard a few meters away that they overlook, and you can walk through them with picturesque views of the mountains in the background. Each cottage has an indoor fireplace for keeping warm, and a lovely outdoor braai area as well which we enjoyed thoroughly while sipping wine overlooking the apple orchards. While the kids were safe, running around the grass area playing together. We also went for a swim in the dam and walked through the farm and orchards. So peaceful and ideallic. Rowena was friendly and gracious and we quickly felt like we'd known her for years after chatting. Thank you so much Rowena, we will definitely be very keen to return for another visit, and hopefully try out that jetty some time in the future. :)

Views of the apple orchards, walks on the farm, listening to the breeze blowing through the trees, the fresh air, and the sounds of little sun birds visiting the flowers in the lush gardens, staying on a working farm does something for the soul! We stayed in the Panorama Cottage (sleeps 4), though it was winter, we had a little fireplace which warmed the whole cottage quite quickly. Rowena, the owner, is a gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed in the cottage. There were little touches that made our stay even more comfortable. I'd recommend a stay at these gorgeous cottages if you plan on visiting the Elgin Valley!

A spot between the orchards which is great for the soul. Rooms are impeccably clean with thoughtful personal touches throughout. Other highlights include the location on a working farm in the heart of Elgin, close to wine farms and close enough access to town. Will certainly visit again.

Beautiful cottages located amongst the orchards. Cottages were neat, clean and tastefully furnished. Nice little touches like branded soaps, coffee and rusks and mozzie plugs made it extra special. Outdoor braai rooms fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Very relaxed weekend break away stay! Neat and comfortable cottages in a quiet and and scenic location close to many first-class restaurants, wine farms and other interesting places. Great hosts to top it all.

When they say "They thought of everything", they had Moortop cottages in mond. Set amid the apple orchards with stunning views, this is a wonderful place to relax or explore the Overberg. The cottages are a delight and the host, Rowena, a delight - always in touch but never intruding (in fact we never met her but feel like we know her). Little home treats and all the amenities one needs, this is a definite must go destination.

We stayed at the lovely Moortop Cottages while attending a wedding in the stunning Elgin Valley. The self catering cottages have been furnished with quality linen, are well equipped and spotless. Situated on a working apple farm, the owners are close by and always happy to help. The outside braai areas allow you to enjoy the fresh air and relax with family or friends! We will definitely be back!

We stayed one night at the Moortop Cottage and absolutely loved it. The area is beautiful and very private. The cottages are brand new with nice design. The host was also very helpful and responsive. Will come again

Our 3 night stay at Moortop was fantastic. Cosy and clean accommodation with all the necessary creature comforts and amenities. The hosts' friendliness, care and attentiveness was unrivaled. Beautiful setting and great location. The internal fireplace is a winner. Hint: The eastern cottage (first one upon arrival) receives spectacular sunrises over the orchards, bathing the deck in light - useful in the chilly winter mornings.

Elgins best kept secret, but not for long! Great accommodation, ideal location & Elgin has so much to offer. Perfect for a weekend getaway to cycle, drink wine & take in the fresh valley air.

Such a great weekend cottyage. All the amentities you need, close to some great wine farms and super friendly hosts!

Incredible location, very good communication with owner, place was spotless and well presented. Free firewood, tea coffee rusks milk etc. Very generous setup
