How do I create a review on Trustpilot?

A Trustpilot account is required for this, but proof of an actual purchase is not required in every case.

How can I have a Trustpilot review removed?

Businesses can report reviews on Trustpilot if they violate the guidelines, for example in the case of insults or demonstrably false statements. Genuine but negative reviews generally remain. In addition, Trustpilot offers paid business packages with reputation-management functions.

How credible is Trustpilot?

The credibility of Trustpilot reviews is disputed. A test by the Wettbewerbszentrale between October 2024 and February 2025 found that of 86 deliberately submitted fake reviews, 31 were published. The Wettbewerbszentrale accuses Trustpilot of advertising misleadingly with statements such as „genuine reviews from genuine people“. In March 2026, the Italian competition authority AGCM additionally imposed a fine of 4 million euros on Trustpilot.

What makes Trustpilot special

What is special about Trustpilot is the combination of great international recognition and an open system that allows both invited and organic reviews. This makes the platform accessible, but at the same time lowers the barrier for unverified reviews.

Tips & tricks for Trustpilot

Bottom line: Trustpilot offers great international reach, but given documented weaknesses in verification it should be interpreted with a certain amount of caution.
